The Austin Neighborhoods Council meeting started off with the announcement of plans for the ANC City Council Candidate Forum by ANC Sector Representatives, August Harris and Tom Nuckols.
Councilmembers Bill Spelman and Laura Morrison answered questions in regard to the micro-apartment resolution that passed, discussing the pros and cons. Laura Morrison requested that the legal staff consider the successful vertical-mixed use ordinance when researching possible micro-apartment regulations for Austin.
Austin Police Dept. Chief of Police, Art Acevedo, spoke about how special events impact APD’s budget and neighborhoods’ patrols.
Bill Oakey, writer of the blog www.AustinAffordability.com, presented Goals And Reforms to Maintain Austin’s Economic Diversity.
Malcolm Yeatts, Sector 9 representative, presented the redraft of the Flood Warning Resolution, which will be voted on my membership at the next ANC General Membership meeting.
F. Joseph Santori, founder of Santori Productions presented The Voting App, which aims to inform voters of candidate information, ballot information, and voter locations. The company is currently in a funding stage with Kickstarter, and is looking for support.
Kevin Wier, Sector 2 representative, presented National Neighborhood Association, a web application that helps to connect neighborhood associations and their business.
